The best stain remover tricks
1. Remove red wine stains with white wine
This stain remover trick is probably one of the best to have in your arsenal – soak red wine stains in white wine, and then cover the area in baking soda paste. Let the mixture sit on the garment for a few hours, and then wash the piece of clothing as your normally would – good as new!
2. Get rid of oil stains with talcum powder
Oil stains can be hard to get rid of, especially on fragile materials like leather handbags – which can be expensive, so it’s important to know how to give your bag a new lease of life. Pop some talcum powder on the stain and leave it overnight, and by morning, the stain should be gone.
3. Use an iron to rid your clothes of wax
A good stain remover trick is removing wax using wax paper and an iron. Lie the wax paper flat over the wax, and then use the iron to heat it up. The wax should then loosen and come free from the garment.
4. Clean suede using bread
This one of the more out-there stain remover tricks is removing dirt and stains from suede shoes and bags using a piece of bread – but it really does work. Take a small piece of bread that has been allowed to go stale, and gently rub the dirt – it should come straight off. It can create some mess and crumbs, however, so be sure to put some cloth down beneath the suede garment to prevent a mess.
5.Remove makeup stains with household items
This is probably the most cost-effective way to rid your clothes of makeup stains. Get rid of foundation stains round your collars by using shaving cream and a cloth, and use hair spray to get rid of lipstick marks. Cleaning loose powder that has exploded in bags can be easily cleaned up using a makeup wipe. All these items can be found in and around people’s homes, meaning that very little money needs to be spent on cleaning solutions.
6. Blood stains can be removed using ammonia
Accidents happen, and blood stains can be the most difficult stain to remove when washed normally. Heavy duty stains like blood require special treatment – the stain should be soaked in cold water mixed with a small amount of ammonia for around 20 minutes. After soaking, the garment should be washed normally and the stain should disappear.
